Home Covid-19 GCC Covid-19 update: Saudi reports 1,881 cases, 22 deaths; Kuwait registers 8 fatalities The death toll in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait has risen to 525 and 220 respectively by Zainab Mansoor June 1, 2020 UAE The UAE Government reported 635 new Covid-19 cases in the country on Monday, June 1. These cases were the result of 30,147 tests that were conducted to screen for the virus. The total number of infections detected therefore stands at 35,192. Officials added that an additional 406 patients had recovered from the virus, raising the total number of recoveries to 18,338. However, the government also announced that two patients had died as a result of the virus. The overall number of deaths within the country is now 266. Saudi Arabia The Ministry of Health has reported 1,881 additional Covid-19 cases across the country, raising the number of infections to 87,142. The city of Riyadh posted 668 cases, followed by Jeddah (293) and Damman (290). The total number of infections and Covid-19-related deaths have risen to 27,762 and 220 respectively. Bahrain As of June 1, 2.30pm, Bahrain reported 4,715 active Covid-19 cases, of whom 11 were reported to be in a critical state. A total of 19 people have succumbed to the virus across the country. Qatar Qatar has reported 1,523 Covid-19 cases and two deaths in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health tweeted. Currently, the country has a total of 24,956 active Covid-19 cases.
