GCC Covid-19 update: UAE registers 680 infections; Kuwait reports 7 deaths; Saudi cases cross 41,000

The death toll in Saudi Arabia and the UAE has risen to 255 and 201 respectively

The Ministry of Health and Prevention in the UAE has announced 680 new Covid-19 infections in the country, resulting from 26,763 tests conducted to screen for the virus.

The country has detected a total of 18,878 infections since the outbreak.

The ministry also recorded three additional deaths, who were active Covid-19 patients, and died as a result of complications associated with the infection.

The death toll has now risen to 201.

An additional 577 recoveries were recorded, raising the total number of those recovered to 5,381.

Meanwhile, the recovery rate in the UAE has risen to 28.5 per cent of the total cases.


Saudi Arabia
The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia announced 1,966 additional Covid-19 cases and nine deaths.

The city of Riyadh led with the highest number of cases, registering 520 infections, followed by Makkah (343) and Madinah (257).

Since the outbreak, the kingdom has announced a total of 41,015 coronavirus cases and 255 fatalities.

 

Oman
The Ministry of Health has registered 174 new cases of the coronavirus infection, including 36 Omanis, and 138 expatriates, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 3,573.

The ministry also confirmed that 17 people have succumbed to the virus, while 1,211 have now recovered.

 

Bahrain
As of May 11, 2.30pm, Bahrain reported a total of 2,997 active Covid-19 cases, of whom four are said to be in a critical state.

Kuwait
The Ministry of Health in Kuwait has announced 598 additional Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, scaling the total to 9,286, Kuwait News Agency reported.

The ministry also reported seven deaths, raising the death toll to 65.

Qatar
The Ministry of Public Health announced the registration of 1,103 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 87 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recovered cases in the country to 2,840.
