Home Covid-19 GCC Covid-19 update: UAE reports 661 cases, 2 deaths; Saudi registers 23 fatalities The death toll in the UAE and Saudi Arabia has risen to 264 and 503 respectively by Zainab Mansoor May 31, 2020 United Arab Emirates The Ministry of Health and Prevention has reported 661 new Covid-19 cases as a result of 37,000 tests conducted to screen for the virus. The total number of cases has risen to 34,557. The new cases identified are currently undergoing treatment. The ministry also confirmed the death of two Covid-19 patients who died due to complications. The death toll across the country tallies 264. The total number of recovered cases has reached 17,932 with 386 cases recovered today after receiving treatment, the ministry added. The city of Jeddah reported 586 cases, followed by Riyadh (504), and Makkah (159). The ministry also confirmed that 23 Covid-19 patients succumbed to the virus. The ministry has also reported additional 1,014 Covid-19 cases, 371 of whom were Omanis. The death toll has risen to 212 while the number of infections total 27,043. There are currently 200 patients receiving necessary medical care in intensive care wards, the ministry added. Bahrain As of May 31, 11am, Bahrain had a total of 4,949 active Covid-19 cases, of whom 12 were in a critical state. So far, 18 people have succumbed to the virus. Qatar The Ministry of Public Health has reported 1,648 positive Covid-19 cases and two deaths in the last 24 hours.
