Home Industry Technology Gitex Global: 33 Italian startups showcased their innovative solutions Solutions that use blockchain and AI for sustainable mobility, healthcare, education, new payment systems and waste reduction are presented by the startups by Zubina Ahmed October 12, 2022 33 Italian Startups are participating at North Star Dubai, one of the Gitex 3.0 events dedicated to the innovative entrepreneur ecosystem. Selected by the Italian Trade Agency, the 33 Italian Startups are hosted in the Italy Pavilion in Gitex. Innovative solutions that use blockchain, AI and augmented reality for sustainable mobility, healthcare, education, new payment systems and waste reduction are presented by the participants. Recently the Italian Government launched a €1bn investment program aimed at the native startup ecosystem to create new opportunities and to promote innovation as a key driver for the growth of the national economy. The goal is to foster the technological and digital transformation of companies, in order to overcome the contraction induced by the pandemic crisis and direct the recovery of investments towards strategic areas for competitiveness and sustainable growth. Amedeo Scarpa, Italian Trade commissioner to the UAE said, “The number of Italian startups keeps growing and official numbers confirm the positive trend already underway in 2021. 14,600 startups have been registered in Italy as of July 2022, 3.7 per cent of all national newly established joint stock companies. This represents 15 per cent of the total number of Italian companies active into high-tech sectors. Software production, IT consulting, research and development, manufacturing of machinery and electronic products are the most popular activities and startups founded by under 35 account for 17.4 per cent of the total.” North Star brings together the most influential players in the global startup ecosystem, and Italy’s Pavilion offers to a selected number of Italian startups the opportunity to put their products in the spotlight, to find investors and grow their presence on international markets. Sustainability is a crucial issue and at the top of the agenda for Italy and startups play a key role in moving forward towards more sustainable practices and methodologies in all sectors. Six of the startups are grouped in regional area organised by Marche Region, one of the twenty regions of Italy, whose economy is mostly based on clusters of SMEs working in traditional manufacturing sectors. Some of the Italian Startups at North Star Dubai 2022 are Astrakode, Boatsandgo, B-zero, Duckma, Elements Works, Fifth Ingenium, Genuine Way Srl, Livegreen Società Agricola, My-Money, Noitech, Peekaboo, Security Pattern, Security Pattern, WiDesign to name a few.
