Home Industry Technology Google to launch six free games on its Stadia platform in June The cloud gaming service is attempting to attract a wider subscriber base by way of these free games by Gulf Business May 31, 2020 Google is trying to attract more subscribers to its cloud gaming service Stadia by offering additional free games. It has now revealed that it would launch six free games on Stadia Pro in June, twice as much as what subscribers usually receive by way of free games. These new free games that will be released on June 16 include popular titles such as The Elder Scrolls Online , time-based puzzle game SUPERHOT, Panzer Dragon Remake, Get Packed, Little Nightmares, and finally Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid. Google also recently announced that it had made changes for those who use the gaming service via the Google Chrome browser. The platform now supports wireless Stadia Controller play and 1440p resolution which is exclusively available for Stadia Pro subscribers. We are of the opinion that making more free games available on the Stadia platform may not help Google in attracting more subscribers if they are not really satisfied with the service in itself, in addition to the fact that Stadia is not available across all countries in the world – for example in Egypt – where players have to use a VPN service to access the Stadia website. Also, the Google Stadia service needs high internet speeds for the games to operate at a resolution of 1080 pixels at 60 fps, which cannot be provided in all countries around the world as the Stadia platform recommends a 25 Mbps internet connection. If you want to play Stadia games at a resolution of 4K at a rate of 60 fps, then you would require internet speeds of upto 35 Mbps. By introducing these free games, Google joins the list of companies that have provided many of their paid games for free to users. This includes Epic Games which has offered popular games such as GTA V, Just Cause 4, Civilization VI, and recently Borderlands 2 for free.
