Group CEO of Dubai’s Emaar Properties resigns
Abdulla Lahej had been with the company since 2000
Dubai developer Emaar Properties announced on Sunday that Abdulla Lahej had discontinued his role as group chief executive officer.
In a notification on local exchange Dubai Financial Market, the company confirmed Lahej’s departure without specifying why he was leaving.
Group chief operating officer Amit Jain is handling the group CEO’s responsibilities, Emaar said.
Lahej joined Emaar in 2000 as an assistant project manager and played a central role in almost all projects developed by the company in Dubai including the world’s tallest building the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall and Dubai Fountain.
He was responsible for the overall management of Emaar’s group of companies and reported to chairman Mohamed Alabbar.
Earlier today the company revealed its latest project at Dubai Creek Harbour, including a tower structure that is taller than the Burj Khalifa.
The $1bn mixed-use building will form the centerpiece of the 6 sq km master-development, located close to Ras Al Khor.
