Home Transport Aviation Gulf Air Starts Al Maktoum International Flights DWC greets its first full service carrier as Gulf Air marks its first flight to the new airport by Dominic Ellis December 8, 2013 Gulf Air’s first flight into Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC) touched down today. A special flight took off from Bahrain International Airport at 0930 and landed at the new airport at 1145 today, although hereafter it will be a daily evening service (GF578 departs Bahrain 1955 and arrives Al Maktoum 2210, and GF579 departs 2255 and arriving Bahrain 2310) – and the bulk of its flights, 51 a week, will continue to fly into Dubai International. The new service is operated by an A320 aircraft. Online economy promotional fares are currently priced in the region of BD60-90, but rise to BD239 from Thursday. The airline hopes to attract executives in the ‘New Dubai’ district, who may feel the new airport is closer than Dubai International, although there isn’t much to choose between them, as a journey from Palm Jumeirah to DWC, and from the Palm to Dubai International, takes around 30 minutes door to door. 0 Comments
