Hands-on review: Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE

Xiaomi is gradually raising the bar when it comes to smartphone designs and performance. Recently, it launched the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, the third in its slim devices that features a new chipset.

We got hold of the phone for a review, and here is our first impression.

Design and display

Among the key features of the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE is its sleek design. It has a 6.81mm thin body and weighs 158g. The Corning Gorilla Glass 5 makes the screen more durable and sturdy. In addition, the smooth matte-finish frosted glass at the back is anti-glare and does not collect fingerprints.

The phone is equipped with a 6.55-inch screen that supports full HD+ resolution, a 10bit AMOLED display that supports a 90Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision HDR10+ support. Furthermore, the screen provides up to 240Hz touch response rate, which is helpful while playing games.

It is available in four colour options – white truffle black, bubblegum blue, peach pink, and snowflake white.

Performance

Powered by the latest Snapdragon 778G 5G mobile platform with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, the phone supports up to 12 5G bands and liquid cooling. Additionally, it comes with a 4,250mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging out-of-the-box and can charge up to 50 per cent in 20 minutes and 100 per cent in 58 minutes.

The Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE also has a hybrid dual SIM slot, a primary microphone, a USB Type-C port, and a speaker grill on the bottom, and a secondary microphone and an IR sensor on the top.

Camera

The phone features a 64MP primary camera with f/1.79 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 5MP telemacro camera. It supports up to 4K 30 fps video recording, and there is also ultra-steady mode. Pictures taken with the primary camera in daylight have vibrant colours, while HDR performance is also rather impressive.

The final verdict

The aesthetics of the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE play an essential role as it does not place excessive strain on your hand, allowing you to watch movies or play games for hours without difficulty.

Currently, being the lightest phone in the market with a battery larger than 4000mAh, it does make for an attractive buy.
