Home GCC UAE Here’s when the next public holiday in the UAE is expected The next official public holiday will be given for the Hijri New Year by Gulf Business August 14, 2019 The next public holiday in the UAE could be coming up later this month, according to a circular issued by the government earlier this year. UAE workers will be given a holiday on the first day of Muharram, marking the start of the Hijri (Islamic) New Year, the UAE’s Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has confirmed. The date is subject to the sighting of the moon, but it’s expected to fall on Saturday, August 31 or Sunday, September 1. The exact date will be announced closer to the time. Under a new decree approved by the UAE Cabinet in March, public and private sector companies in the UAE will have the same number of national holidays this year and in 2020. Isra wal Miraj and the Prophet’s birthday – which were previously observed as public holidays – have not been listed. 0 Comments
