Home UAE Dubai Hunger Games-Inspired Zone To Open In Dubai Parks And Resorts Project The new zone will feature theme park attractions inspired by Lionsgate’s blockbuster motion picture franchises The Hunger Games franchise and Step Up. by Mary Sophia March 31, 2015 Entertainment firm Lionsgate has announced that it will open a dedicated zone with themes from some of its popular franchises at Motiongate, the Hollywood-themed park being developed by Dubai Parks and Resorts. The zone will feature theme park attractions and a retail facility inspired by Lionsgate’s blockbuster franchise The Hunger Games. It will also incorporate a live stage show based on Step Up: All In and Step Up: Revolution, the two most recent films in the company’s Step Up franchise. Modelled on Hollywood films, the four million square foot park Motiongate Dubai is anticipated to attract over three million visits a year when operational. “Motiongate Dubai is poised to become one of the most exciting new entertainment destinations in the world, and we’re thrilled that many of our biggest franchises will be an integral part of it,” said Kerry Phelan, Lionsgate executive vice president of Global Franchise Management and Strategic Partnerships. “The Lionsgate section of Motiongate Dubai is an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to extend the longevity, broaden the global fan base and enrich the vitality of our most exciting entertainment properties.” Motiongate Dubai will host four zones in total featuring about 27 attractions along with retail, dinning, and entertainment options. Other known attractions in the Hollywood park include a Dreamworks zone that will house 12 engaging attractions and rides, as well as character-themed dining and retail outlets based on popular animated feature films such as How to Train your Dragon, Shrek, Madagascar, and Kung Fu Panda. Aside from Motiongate, Dubai Parks and Resorts is also building two other major theme parks at the same location – Bollywood Parks Dubai and Legoland Dubai. It will also feature Riverpark – a grand entrance plaza and Lapita, a family themed hotel. Located in Jebel Ali between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the theme park project is a Dhs10 billion mega leisure development announced by Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in November 2012. Scheduled for completion in 2016, the project is expected to attract five million visitors in its first year of operation. Dubai Parks and Resorts hopes to earn revenues worth Dhs2.4 billion in the first year of its operations, the company said in an earlier statement. 0 Comments
