Home Transport Aviation Indian airline IndiGo begins two new direct routes to Abu Dhabi The new direct flights will operate to and from the Indian cities of Delhi and Mumbai by Aarti Nagraj June 6, 2019 Indian airline IndiGo has started two new daily direct flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Abu Dhabi. The inaugural flight from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to Abu Dhabi took off on Wednesday, June 5 at 7.55pm, while the flight from Abu Dhabi to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai departed at 11.30pm. Bryan Thompson, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, said: “This enhanced connectivity reflects the strong connection between the UAE and India in a variety of areas including commerce and tourism. “IndiGo is one of the busiest Indian airlines operating at Abu Dhabi International Airport to now four destinations; Cochin, Calicut, Delhi and Mumbai. With the two new routes we look forward to continuing to facilitate the travel of Indian expats between their homeland and the UAE and attracting tourist traffic between the multiple destinations,” added Thompson. Flight 6E 1836 will depart from Abu Dhabi at 9.20am and arrive in Delhi at 2.40pm. The return flight 6E 1833 will depart from Delhi at 7.55pm and arrive in the UAE capital at 11.30pm. Meanwhile flight 6E 1834 will leave from Abu Dhabi at 11.30pm and arrive in Mumbai at 4.20am the next day. The return flight 6E 1835 will depart Mumbai at 6.20am and arrive in the UAE capital at 8.05am. IndiGo passengers traveling from Abu Dhabi International Airport will be able to use Abu Dhabi Airports’ remote check-in locations at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and opposite Abu Dhabi Mall. William Boulter, chief commercial officer, IndiGo said: “Abu Dhabi, being a major cultural and commercial centre in UAE, is a critical market for strengthening our presence in the Middle-East. We see great potential in expanding our connections to the UAE, further bolstering the extensive cultural, business and tourism links between India and the Middle East. “With the addition of these new international flights and enhanced domestic frequency, we are committed to expanding our network to meet the requirements of both business and leisure travellers.” IndiGo currently flies over 1,300 daily flights and connects 54 domestic destinations and 17 international destinations. 0 Comments
