Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces will no longer manage the Taj Palace Hotel Dubai bringing an end to a 14-year deal.

As of yesterday, the Deira property is back in the hands of owners, Juma Al Majid Group, which will rename it the Jood Palace Hotel.

The family conglomerate, with interests in investment, contracting and car sales, recently launched hotel management arm Jood Hospitality, which will manage the rebranded property.

No details were given as to whether the hotel will be refurbished or if any changes to its operational staff will be made.

The exit is Taj owner Indian Hotels Company Ltd’s second in the past year, following the ending of a management contract at Taj Palace Marrakech.

The company recently opened its second hotel in Dubai to cater to growing Indian tourist numbers. The exit brings its total properties in the emirate back down to one.

“With the recent opening of the 296-room luxury hotel, Taj Dubai, the Middle-East will continue to be of strategic importance to the group,” Taj said in a statement.

Taj dubai recently received a new debt facility through owner Downtown Investments Limited.
