Kizad to build largest truck plaza in the Middle East

The Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports, broke ground for a new dedicated Truck Plaza this week.

The plaza which will offer refueling and recreational facilities will cover an area of more than 87,000 square metres – approximately equal to 12 soccer fields.

It will cater to the needs of workers and visitors and will include a first-of-its-kind dedicated ADNOC Distribution service station for trucks, comprising two main canopies and six diesel bay canopies.

There will also be a community centre with 275 shaded truck, bus and car parking spaces.

The facility will also house several retail outlets, including a convenience store, restaurants, a car care service, and a 1000 square metre mosque.

The truck plaza will include a restaurant for heavy duty vehicle drivers, a convenience store, four additional quick service restaurant outlets, as well as lube and vehicle washing services.

There will be two utility buildings and the plaza may subsequently even feature a dedicated overnight rest area for drivers.

In addition to the Truck Plaza, KIZAD’s other projects include the upcoming delivery of pre-built modular warehousing units at the over 45,730-square-metre KIZAD Logistics Park Phase 3 during the summer of 2020.

Several units have already been pre-booked by businesses for up to 30 years and plans are in place to expedite the launch of additional phases of the Logistics Park expected to come online by the end of 2020.
