Home GCC Kuwait Kuwait to compensate 710 Indian workers after labour dispute The men will be paid nearly $830 each by Staff Writer July 26, 2018 The Kuwait government will pay compensation to 710 Indian workers who left the country after a labour dispute, according to reports. Kuwait Times said the group lost their jobs and were owed money by their employer. An Indian Embassy official told the publication that Kuwait’s Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) had directed the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs to pay KD250 ($826) to each worker in relief money. The embassy submitted a list of 3,614 workers owed compensation in September but could not reach a deal to liquidate the security deposits paid by the employer for each worker, according to the publication. However, it pursued the matter and after several rounds of talks a power of attorney deal was signed. A revised list of 1,262 names was then submitted, from which the Public Authority of Manpower then shortlisted 710 people eligible for compensation. The money will be remitted to each worker as they are now out of the country. 0 Comments
