The first clinic opened on Tuesday in Dubai’s Oasis Centre, with an initial investment of around Dhs5 million. The conglomerate plans to open the second clinic in the network at Dubai’s Discovery Gardens, later this week. “The group has an aggressive expansion strategy for healthcare, with plans to open 20 clinics by 2014-15 across the UAE,” said Renuka Jagtiani, vice-chairperson, Landmark Group. The locations for these have not yet been determined. iCARE Clinics will offer a wide range of medical services, including paediatrics, gynaecology, internal medicine, dental, radiology, pathology, and family medicine. “The healthcare industry is growing in the UAE and GCC, and there is a need for primary healthcare. Landmark’s approach is to focus on basic service offerings at an affordable price and in accessible locations, targetted at families,” added Renuka Jagtiani. While company executives remained tight-lipped about the return-on-investment they anticipate, or even the break-even point, they did reveal that they’d be investing Dhs100 million into healthcare expansion. Micky Jagtiani, chairman, Landmark Group, said: “With this new venture in the healthcare industry, we aim to continue the company’s philosophy of offering comprehensive facilities and services for the entire family.” The firm reports a turnover of around $4.7 billion, as it grows 23 per cent per annum. With a concentration on retail, the company has diversified into leisure, food and hospitality in the past.
