Home UAE Dubai Mashreq, Visa Launch 2014 FIFA World Cup Branded Cards The branded credit and debit cards will introduce a new rewards programme for users. by Aarti Nagraj February 19, 2014 Dubai-based Mashreq has announced the launch of a limited edition FIFA World Cup Mashreq Visa card, aimed at attracting football fans ahead of the mega event this year. Customers opting for the branded credit and debit cards will receive complimentary welcome gifts such as football jerseys, an EA SPORTS FIFA 14 game DVD and exclusive FIFA Visa memorabilia. The cards will also offer users a new rewards programme, called ‘Salaam Goals’, which can be redeemed for 2014 FIFA World Cup merchandise, travel packages to countries participating in the event, or for retail purchases in the UAE, Mashreq said in a statement. Users can also avail discounts at sports stores and football academies across the UAE. Visa will also offer five packages (an all-expense-paid trip for two) to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, to be held from June 12 to July 13 2014. Marcello Baricordi, general manager UAE and Global Accounts lead at Visa MENA, said: “The UAE is home to a large base of passionate football fans and the hype surrounding the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil is incredible. “Therefore, we are very excited to announce Visa’s partnership with Mashreq to launch the card, which we know will be well received by football fans in the UAE.” Several banks in the UAE have launched football branded cards in recent months to build loyalty among users. In September last year, Emirates NBD launched Manchester United co-branded credit, debit and prepaid cards in the UAE as part of a five-year financial partnership agreement with the English football club. Abu Dhabi-based First Gulf Bank also revealed a three-year deal with Manchester City in 2013, launching an official credit card for the English football club. 0 Comments
