Home UAE Dubai Nakheel Awards Community Services Contracts Worth Dhs87m The agreements cover 13 communities including Palm Jumeirah, The Gardens, Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan, and International City. by Aarti Nagraj April 6, 2014 Nakheel has awarded contracts worth over Dhs87 million for community services at 13 master developments across the emirate, the Dubai developer announced. The agreements for services cover Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Park, Jumeirah Village Triangle, Jumeirah Islands, The Gardens, Discovery Gardens, Garden View Villas, Al Furjan, Masakin Al Furjan, Jebel Ali Village, Veneto, Badrah, and International City. Between them, these communities have over 220,000 residents, a statement said. A Nakheel spokesman said: “We continue to bring more services and facilities to our communities as part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing and improving our existing developments.” Last year, Nakheel chairman Rashid Ali Lootah announced that the firm had reduced service charges for investors across its properties in Dubai. Charges in Palm Jumeirah were reduced by 19 per cent in 2013 compared to 2012, while fees in International City were slashed by 32 per cent. “I can claim that we are the cheapest in Dubai,” he told reporters in July last year. “And that is really enhancing the value of the property of our investors.” Although the developer has faced several complaints regarding the lack of transparency in service charges, Lootah denied any discrepancies. “The process of fixing up the service charge is approved by regulators – the law says that. It is checked by the regulator and independent auditors. “And if it’s approved by the authority, that’s it. The authority is supposed to represent and take care of the interest of the investors,” he said. 0 Comments
