Target & Jima Construction Company, a Dubai-based firm, won the contract, Nakheel said in a statement. The contract is for work in Al Furjan Phase 2 and covers the construction of 16km of roads and the preparation of nearly 500 third party villa plots at the community. Work is due to begin by the end of October 2014, with a planned 16-month completion timeline, the statement added. Nakheel has already delivered 800 homes and is building 400 more in Phase 1, which currently houses over 2,500 residents. The developer is also building a new, 10,000 square metre retail and recreation hub at Al Furjan. The centre, which features a supermarket, cafes, restaurants, shops, swimming pool, gym and sports courts, is due to open in March 2016. More than 70 per cent of retail space in the centre has been booked, Nakheel said. Al Furjan is located between Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, close to Ibn Battuta Mall. Nakheel has been awarding a slew of new contracts for its upcoming projects in Dubai, and earlier this week signed a deal with Overseas AST Company for its 11km Boardwalk project at Palm Jumeirah. Speaking to journalists during Cityscape last month, where Nakheel unveiled two new projects, chairman Ali Rashid Lootah confirmed that the developer would focus on delivering all the projects launched so far in Dubai and that several contracts would be issued before year end-2014 and early 2015. 0 Comments
