The design will be chosen from among 18,000 options, submitted as part of a public competition that ended on April 30, 2015. Entrants were asked to create a design that reflects the main theme of the event: Connecting Minds, Creating the Future. The applicants represent all ages, backgrounds and skill sets, including professional designers, design students and the wider public, a statement said. The submissions will now go through a detailed review process by a panel of design experts. Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State and director general, Bureau Dubai Expo 2020, said the public response to the competition was “overwhelming.” “This competition was an opportunity to engage the nation in building a logo that represents the values, hopes and aspirations that we have for Expo 2020 Dubai and our collective journey towards it,” she said. The winning designer will receive Dhs100,000; a trip for four to three previous World Expo cities; and a season pass for two to attend Expo 2020 Dubai, including an invitation to the official opening ceremony. The logo design competition is part of the ‘For Everyone’ campaign – a UAE-wide community engagement initiative organised as part of the lead-up to the Expo. Dubai has been preparing to host the six-month long event, and has awarded a contract to HOK Group and Arup to design the Expo site in Jebel Ali. Construction of the site and tenders for the project are expected to be out after Dubai’s Expo committee receives a final approval from the BIE, organisers of World Expos. 0 Comments
