Empay will also provide instant credit facility to people who need funds for making various payments without having to complete formalities and paperwork. Users can use Empay to pay for Dubai Economic Department license renewals, bill payments, food ordering, education fee payments, international remittance, P2P (peer-to-peer) micropayments and much more. Empay users will be able to make contactless payments across the globe using NFC (Android) along with QR code payments. Business owners can renew their Dubai Economy License instantly from anywhere in the world without the hassle of going to a centre. The licenses are renewed and available on mobile phones within minutes of making the payment. Expats can use the app to transfer money across the globe from their phone to any bank account worldwide. The Dubai Economic Department (Dubai Economy) is the force behind Empay. Ali Ibrahim, deputy director-general of Dubai Economy, and chairman & managing director of Empay, said the launch of the platform was within the framework of the Department’s strategy to support the transition to a digital economy. The app is available from the Google Play Store or iOS App for Mastercard credit card holders. “The objective of the application is to offer a single platform for residents to make their day-to-day payments without the need of having multiple apps on their mobile phones for different payment requirements,” said Muna Al Qassab, chief executive officer at The Emirates Payment Services, the firm behind Empay.
