New hotel set to open in Dubai – with 269 pools

“Subtle” is not a word used to describe things in Dubai very often. The opening of one of the splashiest new entrants – literally – to the emirate’s hotel and hospitality sector is no exception. The reason: the FIVE Jumeirah Village hotel has no fewer than 269 pools.

Set to open on September 2, the FIVE Jumeirah Village comprises 247 rooms and suites, 254 hotel apartments (in one, two and four bedroom configurations) – and the aforementioned 269 pools.

The question, of course, is whether a hotel even needs that many pools – to which FIVE Hospitality director of marketing and communications Claire Ferris-Lay claims the answer is most certainly yes.

“Guests at FIVE Jumeirah Village can expect lots of ‘Instagramable’ moments throughout their stay,” she says, adding the profusion of pictures popping up in posts will prompt people to purchase packages at the property.

With every room and suite designed in-house, the idea was to create contemporary penthouse-style living with the lush green of a villa garden. The hotel claims bathrooms will offer floor-to-ceiling, offering panoramic views across Dubai. Different restaurants, cafes and spas will also be on offer.

Jaydeep Anand, CEO of FIVE Jumeirah Village, adds the hotel will be the first licenced venue in the area and surrounding neighbourhood.

Of course, staying at such a hotel comes with a price – starting at Dhs650 per person per night for a superior room. However, guests can also only use one of the 269 pools for Dhs200 per person, which includes a Dhs150 credit for food and drinks.

The hotel’s opening comes even as the number of tourists coming to Dubai is continuing to increase, according to newly-released statistics.

The latest data, released by Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) in mid-August, shows a 3 per cent increase in visitors coming to the emirate in the first six months of 2019 compared to the same period last year.
