New legal home delivery service launched in Dubai by MMI and African + Eastern

The UAE’s two prominent liquor retailers Maritime and Mercantile International (MMI) and African + Eastern have announced that they have started home deliveries in Dubai through a new website – LegalHomeDelivery.com.

The service is available to all Dubai residents who hold a valid liquor licence as well as tourists on presentation of their original passport. All Dubai residents (over 21 and non-Muslim) can apply for a liquor licence online.

Orders can be placed directly on www.legalhomedelivery.com, with a range of 500 brands on offer.

The site offers a secure payment gateway, with a minimum spend required of Dhs250, plus a delivery charge of Dhs50, a statement said. People will be able to take receipt of their deliveries the following day on presentation of their valid liquor licence at the registered address.

Orders placed before 12pm (midday) will be delivered the next day.

Sean Hennessey, general manager, African + Eastern – UAE Retail and Oman, added: “This partnership represents a real step-change for consumers in Dubai. It was created to give our customers even more choice.”

As part of precautions related to Covid-19, all the drivers will wear face masks and gloves and are “trained to high levels of sanitisation” before handling any products and deliveries, the statement added.

As required as part of the social distancing initiative, drivers will stand at least 2m from the door when making the delivery.
