The UAE’s new low-cost airline, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, is offering tickets priced at Dhs1 (one-way price, including taxes, administration and other non-optional charges) as part of a New Year campaign, it announced on Sunday.

The ultra low fare will be for 2,021 tickets for select flights from Athens to Abu Dhabi, from Thessaloniki to Abu Dhabi, and to Athens or Thessaloniki from Abu Dhabi in case of a second segment of a return flight.

The tickets are available on a first-come-first-serve basis on Sunday, January 10 and Monday, January 11 at wizzair.com and the airline’s mobile app.

The 2,021 tickets include all seats on the airline’s inaugural flight to Athens on January 15, a statement said.

Kees Van Schaick, managing director of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, said: “As an ultra-low fare airline, we want to provide travellers with the opportunity to visit exciting destinations for super accessible prices. We expect these tickets to sell out fast.”

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, a joint venture established between ADQ and Wizz Air Holdings, officially received its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in October.

It will initially fly to Athens, Thessaloniki, Alexandria, Kutaisi, Larnaca, Odesa and Yerevan.

The airline will operate the routes with a fleet of four brand new Airbus A321neo aircraft.

Further destinations will be launched over the coming months.
