New sleep lounge opened at Dubai airport’s Terminal 3

A new sleep lounge featuring pods and cabins has been opened in Terminal 3 at Dubai International (DXB) airport.

The Sleep ‘n fly lounge offers a total of 27 pods and cabins, and is located close to Gate A1 in Concourse A.

The new Scandinavian-designed sleep lounge features 20 ‘igloo’ sleep pods, and seven premium double cabins with pull-out children’s beds.

Customers can opt for one-hour sessions or book for up to one night.

Prices for the igloo pod start from $17 for one hour (during the day and for online pre-bookings) and at $60 for two hours for a cabin (daytime).

The cost for 12 hours (day/night) stands at $130 for the single use pods and $271 for the cabins (single or double occupancy).

Pods and cabins can be reserved via the Sleep ‘n fly website.

The lounge does not provide any food and beverage elements, and facilities include a small waiting area for arriving and departing guests, and a unisex changing room.

Merchandise such as pillows and blankets, shower, dental and shaving kits, neck hoodies and travel slippers are also available for sale.

Eugene Barry, executive vice president – Dubai Airports Commercial Group said: “The opening of Sleep ‘n fly expands Dubai International’s existing range of rest and relaxation options, and is the latest in a line of personalised and engaging products we are rolling out to cater to the evolving needs of global travellers.”

Currently, the Dubai airport also offers ‘SnoozeCubes’, small soundproof cubicles featuring a bed, TV, storage and wifi for passengers. Prices start at $21 an hour for a single cube and $28 for a shared cube. The facility was opened in 2011.

Earlier this week, Dubai Airports announced that DXB – the world’s busiest airport for international passenger traffic – handled more than 7.6 million travellers in April.

It also confirmed that year-to-date passenger passenger traffic reached over 30 million, indicating an increase of 7.8 per cent compared to the same period last year.
