The company said the agreement would boost its standing in the region after launching in Saudi Arabia and the UAE a year ago through a $1bn investment. Read: $1bn shopping site Noon.com goes live in Saudi Emirati billionaire Mohamed Alabbar, who founded Noon alongside investors including Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, said the company was “excited to connect with Al Ittihad’s dedicated fan base”. Al Ittihad is one of the kingdom’s oldest football teams, having been founded in 1927. It has won eight Saudi League titles and holds 48 championship trophies. “I would like to thank noon for their trust and dedication to Al Ittihad, one of the most beloved football clubs with a history of many formidable achievements that have positioned it as a leading football club in Saudi Arabian, the Middle East and Asia,” said Al Ittihad president Loay Nazer. The agreement marks second major sponsorship deal signed by a Saudi football team in recent months after Al Nassr FC teamed up with Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways in August.
