Oman announces holiday dates for Islamic New Year

Oman has officially declared the date for the celebration of Hijri New Year 1445. The country has declared Thursday, July 20, as a holiday to commemorate the Islamic New Year.

The Oman News Agency announced on its Twitter handle, “Thursday, which corresponds to July 20, will be an official holiday for employees in both the public and private sectors, in observance of the anniversary of the Prophet’s honourable migration and the advent of the new Hijri year 1445.”

The official holiday will apply to those working in both the public and private sectors.

Islamic New Year 1445

The Hijri New Year signifies the start of a new lunar year for Muslims around the world. Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar also known as the Hijri calendar. Muharram 2023 will mark the start of the New Islamic Year 1445.
