The service departed from Salalah at 10:05am local time following a test flight of the airline’s first Airbus A320 conducted yesterday. The carrier will begin the service by operating two daily flights between the two cities for the first 10 days before increasing to four flights in a few weeks, chairman Sheikh Khalid Al Yahmadi told Times of Oman. SalamAir is offering three fare options – light, friendly and flexi – with allowances ranging from 7kg of carry-on baggage to 20kg of checked baggage. Flexi fare passengers can also change flights for free. The airline will also begin offering flights from Muscat International to Dubai World Central from February 15, according to its website. The company’s name was chosen through a poll conducted by Muscat National Development and Investment Company last year.
