Since its inception in 2006, the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters tournament has attracted a large number of international media to Dubai and also helped catalyse the growth of fan base and popularity of women’s game in the UAE and across the region. The tournament has seen the likes of former world number one Annika Sorenstam of Sweden, Lexi Thompson, China’s Shan Shan Feng and Thailand’s Pornanong Phatlum inscribing their names on the trophy. HE Mohammed Al Shaibani, CEO and executive director of the Investment Corporation of Dubai, the flagship holding firm of some of the emirate’s top companies presented mementos to the representatives of the sponsors, acknowledging their role in staging an event of this stature and magnitude every year. “Every international sporting event hosted in Dubai has its own appeal and aura, reflecting on the Emirate’s dynamic and innovative sporting culture,” said Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice chairman and CEO of Golf in Dubai, the promoters and organisers of the Dhs2.5 million event. “One of the primary motives behind the staging of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters is to create a family-like atmosphere so that parents are encouraged to introduce their children to golf, which is of paramount importance for the growth of the game at the grassroots level. “For us the biggest achievement is when players speak highly about our tournament. And they do. Which is what makes us proud. On this occasion, I take this opportunity to thank Omega, the title sponsor, and DUBAL, the sponsor, for their continued commitment over the years. “Our family of co-sponsors, made up of CNN, Dubai Drydocks World & Maritime World, Emirates NBD, Gulf News, Mercedes-Benz and Wasl, along with our patrons Carpetland, Dubai Duty Free and Motivate add so much value to the tournament.” 0 Comments
