Over 3,000 employees at Saudi’s stc to work remotely for two weeks

To combat the spread of the Covid-19 virus and protect its workforce, Saudi Telecom Company (stc) has instructed more than 3,000 of its employees to work remotely for a period of two weeks, it announced on Sunday.

The move is also in line with the company’s “DARE” strategy which focuses on digitally transforming its operational capabilities.

Last week, stc granted all female employees with children, the benefit of working remotely to support the government’s decision to activate distant education, a statement said, citing Ahmad bin Misfer Al Ghamdi, group HR vice president.

These steps build on stc’s ongoing efforts to facilitate the concept of remote working, which had been made available to stc employees in the last two years. According to the initiative, employees could remotely work five days each month to accommodate their needs.

stc had previously undertaken the initiative to provide remote working facilities to all its employees in the Al Qatif region. Furthermore, as part of precautionary measures undertaken by the company, a cellphone fingerprint system has been adopted.

In line with stc’s digitisation efforts, 95 per cent of the company’s services are available via its mobile app, in addition to self-service machines deployed across multiple cities in the kingdom.

Saudi Arabia has reported a total of 103 coronavirus cases, of whom two are said to have fully recovered.

The kingdom’s Ministry of Interior confirmed that all international flights to and from the kingdom will be suspended for two weeks beginning at 11 am on Sunday, March 15.
