Spread across an area of around 2.2 sq km, the project features 1,100 residential villas, with the aim of providing housing for about 7,000 UAE citizens, official news agency WAM reported. The housing units include 583 five-bedroom villas, 417 four-bedroom villas, and 100 three-bedroom villas. The houses will be handed over by a joint committee that includes representatives from the Crown Prince Court – Abu Dhabi, the follow-up committee of the initiatives of the UAE President and other authorities, WAM reported. Located in the Al Hail area, 3km south of Fujairah airport, Mohamed bin Zayed Residential City also includes 20 public parks, plots of land designated for public services, three main power stations and 19 subsidiary power stations, a pumping station for firefighting, and a sewage system station. In the next stage, the project will also feature schools, mosques, parks and commercial stores in addition to a community cultural centre and a men’s council. Currently, the residences account for 44.2 per cent of the total area of the project; roads represent 16.8 per cent; green areas cover around 13.1 per cent; and service plots comprise 13.86 per cent of the total project area. The project was launched to “meet the needs of UAE citizens, support the stability of Emirati families, and improve the quality of their lives”, the report added. The city has been set up in line with the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, with His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, overseeing the project.
