Some private schools in Sharjah can hike fee for new academic year

Private schools in the emirate of Sharjah are eligible to hike the annual tuition fee by up to 5 per cent for the 2023-2024 academic year.

“It has been decided to adopt an annual tuition fee increase in Sharjah private schools of a rate not exceeding 5 per cent for the academic year 2023-24, according to the school’s academic evaluation and the country’s inflation rate,” Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) said on Twitter.

However, schools with a rating below ‘Acceptable’ are not eligible to increase the tuition fees, the emirate’s education regulator said on Monday.

Last week, Dubai’s education regulator announced that certain private schools in the emirate would be eligible for a 3 per cent increase in tuition fees for the new academic year.

Those schools that will maintain the same inspection rating will be allowed to increase their fees by 3 per cent, as per the School Fees Framework, while those whose inspection rating has dipped will not be eligible for any fee hike.
