Home Transport Aviation Qatar Airways Expands In Iraq The new capacity raises its Iraq network to five destinations and frequencies to 20 weekly services by Dominic Ellis March 20, 2013 Qatar Airways will fly to two new points in Iraq, Basra and Sulaymaniyah, this summer. Basra launches June 3 and Sulaymaniyah August 20, with both services operating four times a week on two-class Airbus 320 aircraft from Doha. The airline said it is offering new travel options to Iraqis and those involved in the reconstruction efforts, in a week that marked the 10th anniversary of the allied invasion. Qatar Airways began operations to Iraq last summer with flights to Baghdad and Erbil, followed in January this year by services to Najaf.
