Home Transport Aviation Qatar Airways Launches Daily Non-Stop Flights To Dallas/Fort Worth The new service is estimated to add around $200 million annually to the US destination’s economy. by Aarti Nagraj July 2, 2014 Qatar Airways began daily, non-stop services between Doha’s new Hamad International Airport (HIA) and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport on Tuesday, July 1. DFW is the carrier’s second destination in Texas following Houston, its seventh in the US and 144th worldwide, a statement said. The new route will depart from Doha at 8:10am and arrive into DFW at 3:35pm the same day. The overnight service to Doha departs DFW at 8:00pm and lands in Doha at 6:20pm the following day. The route is operated with a Boeing 777-200LR configured with 217 economy class seats and 42 business class seats. The new destination will serve as a “crucial junction” between Doha and other destinations across Southwestern USA, including Austin, San Antonio and Oklahoma City, through the airline’s oneworld alliance partners, the statement said. “We are particularly pleased to begin serving the home city of our oneworld alliance partner American Airlines,” said Qatar Airways CEO, Akbar Al Baker. “Together, we can provide North Texas and the surrounding region with unparalleled service and better connections to Doha and around the world.” DFW currently houses major American corporations such as Exxon Mobil, Justin Boots, Texas Instruments, Frito Lay and AT&T. Sean Donohue, DFW Airport’s CEO, said: “DFW is an integral economic driver to the region and this new nonstop service will add approximately $200 million annually to our economy.” Outbound passengers to Doha will have access to Asian connections, including Delhi, Beijing, Tokyo, Bangkok and Perth, via Hamad International Airport, added the statement. The much-delayed HIA, which began operations on May 1, is currently capable of handling over 360,000 flights and 30 million passengers annually, with an expected capacity of 50 million passengers after full completion. DFW is Qatar Airways’ 10th new destination of 2014, with new routes also launched to Miami, Tokyo-Haneda and Edinburgh earlier this year. 0 Comments
