Qatar Airways To Operate Dreamliners To Scandinavia

Qatar Airways has announced that it will operate the wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner on three Scandinavian routes.

The Doha-based carrier will launch 787s to Swedish capital Stockholm on August 1, and to Copenhagen and Oslo – capital cities of Denmark and Norway, from September 1.

The airline currently operates daily flights to each of the three destinations, with a total weekly capacity of 21 services. But only selected flights will be served by Dreamliners, Qatar Airways said in a statement.

The carrier resumed services of its five Dreamliner 787s in April, after US regulators banned the planes from the skies in January because of problems with the airliner’s battery systems.

The airline, which took delivery of its sixth Dreamliner at the Paris Air Show, has a further 54 787 aircraft on order.

Speaking at the show, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said: “I have always said the Dreamliner is a state-of-the-art aircraft designed to change the passenger travel experience because of the space, comfort, interior look and feel and, from an operational point of view, a highly fuel-efficient jet aircraft.

“I am delighted that our Dreamliners will be introduced to Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo very soon providing our passengers with an unparalleled level of service and comfort to and from Scandinavia.”

Qatar Airways has 254 custom-made seats across its 787 business and economy class cabins with wireless facilities for passengers.

Qatar Airways currently operates 787s to London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich and Dubai.
