Its existing 25-year exploration and production-sharing agreement with Maersk Oil of Denmark expires then. Maersk is among the companies invited to bid for the new contract. The oilfield, 80 kilometres (50 miles) off Qatar’s coast, is one of the largest in the world and currently produces around 300,000 barrels per day, Qatar Petroleum said.
