Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has pardoned 874 prisoners ahead of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, in a similar measure, Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, pardoned 369 inmates at the Punitive and Correctional Institution in Sharjah.
The holy month of Ramadan will begin on Friday, April 24, an astronomer in the UAE has predicted.

The UAE’s moon-sighting committee has decided to convene virtually on Thursday, April 23, after the Maghreb prayer. The committee, under the chairmanship of the minister of Justice Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi Al Dhaheri, will announce the start of Ramadan.
