Home Covid-19 Fujairah opens free Covid-19 testing centre for UAE residents and citizens The testing facility is located in Mirbah, Fujairah by Varun Godinho August 18, 2020 The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), represented by the Fujairah Medical Zone, has announced the inauguration of a new Covid-19 testing centre in Mirbah, Fujairah. The centre will offer free tests for all UAE citizens and residents, as per the directives of Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, reported official news agency WAM. The new centre was inaugurated in coordination with the emirate’s Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Team and the Fujairah Police. The ministry is cooperating with the Fujairah Government to deploy additional coronavirus testing centres around the emirate and equip them with the latest equipment and medical, nursing and administrative staff from the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA). Last month, authorities in Ras Al Khaimah said that all hospitality staff in the emirate are eligible for free Covid-19 tests. In a similar initiative, the Ajman Medical Zone inaugurates a free Covid-19 testing centre in “Al Bait Metwahid Hall” last month. The centre can test over 2,000 people per day and those who test positive in the Ajman centre will be monitored by the Ajman Preventive Medicine Centre. Read: Ajman to open free Covid-19 testing centre on July 23 Also, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, has instructed the MoHAP to conduct free Covid-19 tests for both citizens and residents in Fujairah. Read: Free Covid-19 tests for all expat residents and UAE citizens in Fujairah Sharjah too has put in place mobile testing centres that are offering those over the age of 18 free Covid-19 tests. As of August 17, the UAE has reported a total of 64,541 cases, of which 57,794 patients have recovered. It has also reported that 364 individuals overall have died as a result of the virus in the country.
