Home Lifestyle Culinary Restaurant Reviews: Golden hour at Hutong Hutong offers contemporary Chinese cuisine in Dubai, Hong Kong, London, New York and Miami by Zubina Ahmed July 12, 2022 If you are looking to have delicious fusion Chinese food with great customer service in the heart of Dubai’s Financial district (DIFC), Hutong is the place to be. The restaurant offers contemporary northern Chinese cuisine and creative cocktails all served in an opulent setting with a beautiful outdoor terrace. Located in the heart of Dubai’s financial district DIFC, it has an indoor restaurant, a mezzanine floor, two private dining rooms and a beautiful outdoor terrace. Originally from Hong Kong, Hutong was one of the first Chinese restaurants to be awarded a Michelin star. Today the brand serves guests in Dubai, London, New York and Miami as well. They recently curated a ‘Golden Hour Menu’ with the their signature dishes for guests to experience right after work. As we entered, we couldn’t ignore the ambience—fiery red lamps, a wishing tree at its centre, warm lighting, polished wooden work and deep velvet seats. And most important, views of the newly opened Museum of the Future made the setting spectacular. Greeted by a friendly staff who advised us on the best dishes, followed by the delicious food sealed the dinner worthwhile. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Hutong Hong Kong (@hutonghk) The three-course Golden-hour menu offers a selection of six dishes that guests may select from. It isn’t just the taste, but each dish was extremely well-crafted and judiciously spiced with a modern style. For starters, we ate the chilled Green Asparagus dressed with white sesame, wagyu roll in sichuan chilli sauce, the Hutong prawn roll which was light and crispy roll with prawns & scallops and the the vegetarian spring rolls, wild mushroom & truffle bao, black garlic and chicken siu mai and hutong prawn roll – a light pastry filled with mushrooms & cabbage. These gave us a hearty start to our evening. For the mains we went for the steamed dumpling platter which included prawn and chicken siu mai, crystal vegetable dumpling and half roasted peking duck. The Hutong prawn rolls offered a crunchy coating with a soft, flavourful filling. If you like your spice, feel free to spoon the accompanying chilli oil over for that extra kick. The side dish was served with fried rice mixed shrimp & chilli fennel seed paste and the dan dan noodles which was a Sichuan classic dish served in a spicy minced lamb, sesame & peanut broth. Every dish was outstanding, delicious, cooked to perfection and left us full and satisfied. We ended the meal with the delectable desserts — golden fortune, bao and soy and ma la. They were spectacular desserts not just to look at, but to indulge in as well. With a service among the best I have had in Dubai, Hutong is perfect for get-togethers and sit-down post work hours. The scrumptious food, creatively-mixed drinks, decor and ambience was welcoming and will transport guests all the way to Hong Kong. Hutong is located in Gate Building 6, Ground Floor DIFC Al Sukook Street – DIFC – Dubai The new Golden Hour menu is available from Sunday to Thursday, 6pm to 7:30pm. Priced at Dhs198 per person, patrons may opt for two starters of their choice, one selection for mains along with sides each and one dessert of their choosing.
