Home Insights Revealed: 10 countries with the most powerful militaries Turkey ranks among the world’s top 10 military nations, finds index by Thapasya Chandran July 3, 2016 The United Arab Emirates ranks seventh in the Middle East and North Africa region and 58th worldwide for military strength, according to the Global Firepower Index for 2016. The index, which looked at 126 countries, considered over 50 factors in the ranking process including available manpower, labour force and land resources. The report found that the UAE has over three million people available in terms of manpower, 545 tanks and 515 aircraft. Regionally, Turkey was ranked the highest for military strength, occupying the eighth position globally. Meanwhile Saudi Arabia, which recently surpassed Russia to become the world’s third biggest military spender, ranked fifth regionally and 24th globally on the list. Overall, the 200-year-old United States military emerged as the most powerful military in the world followed by Russia and China.
