Revealed: Winners At The Gulf Business Industry Awards 2014
The Gulf Business Industry Awards 2014 winners were chosen by a panel of independent judges and public voting.
The third edition of the celebrated Gulf Business Industry Awards took place in a glittering ceremony on Monday, with over 350 people in attendance to applaud the best in the UAE’s corporate world receive their accolades.
A total of 25 awards – judged by an independent panel and public voting – were handed over to some of the biggest names in the country at The Westin Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina.
The annual awards commemorated both CEOs and companies within nine individual industries, spanning IT, media, real estate, banking, aviation, tourism, retail, healthcare and energy.
The evening ended with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award handed in person to the winner, His Excellency Mohamed Alabbar, the chairman of Emaar (pictured above).
Dubai Duty Free received the ‘UAE Company of the Year’ award, as well as the ‘Retail Company of the Year’, and both were collected in person by George Horan, president of DDF.
Shayne Nelson, CEO of Emirates NBD, collected the award for Banking CEO of the Year, and the coveted overall ‘Gulf Business CEO of the Year’.

The GBIA independent judging panel included: Firas Nasir, co-head of MENA, Carlyle Group, Ben Bruton, managing partner UAE, Eversheds, Ian Fairservice, managing partner and group editor of Motivate, Peter Cooper, editor of ArabianMoney.net, and Ankush Chibber, editor of Gulf Business.
