Revealed: The music, movie and comedy shows you can catch at Dubai’s DIFC this winter

If you’re looking for new entertainment options this holiday season in Dubai, head to the Dubai International Financial Centre’s (DIFC) Gate Avenue.

The lifestyle destination has launched Winter Vibes at Gate Avenue, an outdoor activation featuring weekly music, movie and comedy nights throughout the holiday period.

Running from December 10, 2020 until January 8, 2021, Winter Vibes are being held in the evenings at Gate Avenue’s Promenade level, Zone A, featuring live Jazz music, al fresco dining, entertaining movies and stand-up comedians.

Jazz Garden
A seasonal celebration of live music and al fresco dining, Jazz Garden will feature live performances by some of the world’s best jazz artists every Thursday and Friday.

The venue saw live performances by Sylvia Howard last week, and on Thursday, December 17 and Friday, December 18, music enthusiasts can enjoy the beats of Roy Young.

Ronald Baker will take the stage the following weekend, on December 24-25 for the greatest Jazz and Blues Christmas experience.

To ring in the New Year, Monique Thomas, a multi-faceted singer who blends jazz, soul, gospel and pop, will perform live on New Year’s Eve and January 1, 2021.

Finally, Fabi Medina will close the Jazz Garden with concerts on January 7 and 8, bringing a new flavour to vocal jazz with a pinch of pop and a touch of soul.

Guests need to book a space in advance and can enjoy complimentary performance with a Dhs180 minimum spend on food and drinks at DIFC’s restaurants and culinary outlets.

Movie Nights
For those looking for good movie night options, DIFC’s Gate Avenue will screen some of the biggest blockbusters in Hollywood cinema every Monday from December 14, 2020 until January 4, 2021.

The family-friendly free-to-attend movie nights started off with 2018 hit romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians, which screened on December 14.

Guests can enjoy the Christmas spirit with Elf on December 21 and The Holiday on December 28. Pokemon fans can catch Detective Pikachu, set to be aired on January 4, which will conclude the screenings.

All movies, held under the stars with comfy bean bags for seating, are free to watch and run from 6pm-8pm.

Dubomedy
If you are looking for good hearty laughs to end a tough year, head to the DIFC on Wednesday nights. The famous Dubai comedy troupe Dubomedy will be tickling your funny bones from December 16, 2020 up until January 6, 2021.

The complimentary comedy nights feature a range of homegrown talent who will perform comedy acts once a week with a mix of stand-up and improv’ on a special pop-up stage near the Vibes Cafe.

The comedy nights are free-to-attend. Doors open at 7pm, with the performances starting at 7.30pm and concluding at 9pm.
