Revealed: Top 10 Richest Arabs In The World

Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud has once again topped the 2015 list of the 100 wealthiest Arabs in the world, with an estimated fortune of $22.6 billion, according to Forbes Middle East.

Despite plunging oil prices, Arab tycoons continued to build their fortunes, amassing a combined wealth of $174.37 billion, up $8.3 billion compared to 2014, the magazine found.

The number of billionaires also rose to 49, four more than last year, with a shared wealth of $155.1 billion, up $7.4 billion on 2014.

Overall, 56 of the 100 Arabs in the list recorded an increase in their wealth, a statement from Forbes said.

“But while prosperity is rising, in many respects, this year’s list of affluent Arabs also represents certain continuity, serving as a reminder of the dominance of an elite group now synonymous with success,” it added.

Prince Alwaleed was followed by Joseph Safra from Lebanon with $17.3 billion, and Saudi’s Mohammed Al Amoudi, with $10.8 billion.

Saudi Arabia tops the list for both volume of entries and total wealth, accounting for 41 out of the top 100. Forbes research also found that wealth from the Kingdom overwhelmingly came from the retail sector.

The top 10 this year highlights the “continued strength of family ties”, with members of the UAE’s Al Ghurair family and Egypt’s Mansour and Sawiris clans all retaining top spots, the statement added.
