Home UAE Abu Dhabi Royal Jet’s New-Look Business Jet Takes Off The $9m upgrade sees greater emphasis on technology and entertainment by Dominic Ellis June 25, 2013 One of Royal Jet’s six Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) has returned to the skies following a $9 million upgrade. The aircraft (A6-AIN) will be put to work on corporate and VIP private charters across the globe from its base in Abu Dhabi. Opulent touches include ostrich skin on seatbacks and bulkheads, exotic wood veneers and decorative polycarbonate mirrors. The revamp sees greater emphasis on technology with the Audio Video On Demand (AVOD) system allowing passengers to access high-definition in-flight content from any of the 10.4-inch monitors in the cabin simultaneously, as well as access to Aeromobile’s GSM network and wifi. A 37-inch HD LCD monitor is located on the bulkhead of the forward lounge. Shane O’Hare, president & CEO of Royal Jet, said the new-look aircraft was now “the pride of our fleet”, but added all its BBJs resemble five-star luxury flying hotels. The refurbishment was designed by Edése Doret Industrial Design (EDID), the New York aircraft interiors consultancy, and carried out by Sabena technics at its VIP completion centre in Bordeaux. “The reason for the ongoing refurbishment of our fleet is to keep our fleet interiors fresh and modern, in line with the expectations of our guests,” said O’Hare. “At this end of the market, we must always keep up with customer expectations and offer the very best in cutting-edge technology and luxury.” 0 Comments
