SAP trains hundreds of Egyptian youths in digital skills

SAP has teamed up with the German government to impart digital skills and improve career prospects in IT for Egyptian youth.

Developing digital skills is a key part of Egypt Vision 2030, while the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s ‘Digital Egypt’ initiative envisions developing ICT skills for 100,000 youth.

In the latest development, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and the software giant have graduated two more groups of Egyptian youth the SAP Young Professional Programme.

The recent cohorts of the SAP Young Professional Programme in Egypt are part of a collaboration between SAP and GIZ. They aim to jointly create 450 jobs for qualified personnel in the IT sector in 10 African countries over the course of three years. The cooperative project is part of the develoPPP.de programme that GIZ implements on behalf of BMZ.

During the 2-month-long Young Professional Programme, recent university graduates gained ICT and future skills to become certified SAP Associate Consultants. Graduates are qualified to take up employment with SAP customer or partner organisations. Worldwide, more than 99 per cent of programme graduates across 31 countries have been placed into relevant jobs, SAP says. In Egypt, the programme has created more than 300 jobs to date.

“Our Young Professional Programme creates a quadruple-win: Egyptian youth land digital careers, customers and partners hire top talent, SAP enhances its ecosystem, and the government can further Egypt Vision 2030, and accelerate the digitisation of the country’s economy and society,” said Marita Mitschein, managing director, SAP Training and Development Institute.
