Home Industry Trade Saudi says $192m Dhiba port expansion almost complete Dhiba stands at the northern end of the Red Sea by Staff Writer February 6, 2018 The Saudi Ports Authority on Tuesday announced progress on 12 projects worth SAR721m ($192m) designed to boost the regional and international competitiveness of the northwestern port of Dhiba. The developments include a SAR327m ($87.1m) container handling station set for completion by March 2018 that will have a capacity for 500,000 standard containers a year. This features a 550m berth than can receive the latest generation of container ships, handling, inspection and storage areas spanning 375,000 square metres, two new 100m passenger ferry berths and a 60m berth for naval border guards. A total of SAR96m ($25.5m) has also been allocated to increase the size of the port’s cargo handling capacity through the reclamation and paving of 675,000 square metres of land. Other aspects of the expansion include a 3,850-square-metre refrigerated warehouse and a 4,400-square-metre security area worth SAR22m ($5.86m). The site will be powered by a new SAR119m ($31.7m) power station with a capacity of 54MW, fed by SAR75m ($19.9m) of transmission lines. 0 Comments
