Saudi Arabia will be further easing the restrictions for select travellers into the country, as the Covid-19 situation improves in the country, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

An official source at the Ministry of Interior announced that travellers who were previously required to spend 14 days outside certain countries before entering the kingdom can now enter directly, provided they fall under the following categories:

1. Faculty members and their peers at universities, colleges and institutes
2. Teachers in public education
3. Training bodies at the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training and Training Institutes
4. Scholarship students

They will also need to meet the necessary requirements for institutional quarantine and vaccine-taking during that period, the SPA report said.

Those who have received one dose or both doses of the vaccine inside the kingdom are excluded from the institutional quarantine, including the companions of the above-mentioned categories and their families, as well as workers in the public and private sectors.

The official source also confirmed that the kingdom has lifted the suspension of travel for Saudi citizens under the age of 18 to Bahrain.

The decisions have been taken based on what has been submitted by the competent health authorities in the kingdom, the source said, adding that all procedures and measures are subject to continuous evaluation.

Saudi has seen a steady decrease in Covid-19 cases in recent weeks.

On Tuesday, the country’s Ministry of Health (MoH) announced 42 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of infections recorded in Saudi to 547,357.

It also reported three additional deaths, bringing the tally of fatalities in the kingdom to 8,730.

Meanwhile 36 recoveries were recorded, taking the total number of those who have recovered from the virus to 536,406.

The ministry added that the number of critical cases reached 163.
