Home Technology Cloud Saudi Arabia’s Edarat Group adopts IBM cloud satellite to accelerate digital transformation IBM cloud Satellite will help enable Edarat Group to deliver secure cloud capabilities to its customers while addressing data protection local requirements by Divsha Bhat September 1, 2021 Edarat Group has chosen IBM cloud satellite to provide services in hybrid cloud environments to its customers in Saudi Arabia. As a result, the Group can execute workloads in hybrid cloud environments while retaining their data in the kingdom using the cloud satellite. This is critical for regulated industries like financial services, telecommunications, and healthcare since it allows them to operate workloads in local and global data centres. Rather than moving workloads fully to the public cloud, Edarat Group’s business customers may use secure IBM cloud services in any environment where their data is stored, allowing them to comply with local regulations. This adoption is designed to improve the Group’s agility and enhance its operational efficiency. Edarat will leverage open hybrid cloud technologies to achieve improved deployment flexibility, enhanced security, and access to advanced services that may fuel innovation by expanding its collaboration with IBM. “In a phased approach, we are addressing the evolution of the market landscape in the kingdom and across the Middle East. As Saudi Vision 2030 has laid out a roadmap for digitalisation, increasing numbers of companies require services and consultancy that embraces the agility and flexibility that their data requires,” says Jihad Nehme, transformation and workload migration principal consultant at Edarat Group. “Through IBM Cloud Satellite, we are able to comply with the comprehensive data regulations across the kingdom while providing the flexibility that hybrid cloud services allow our own workloads and in turn our own customers’ needs.” Earlier this year, a new IBM study conducted by IDC said that 85 per cent of C-suite executives in the United Arab Emirates are pursuing or planning to implement hybrid cloud strategies in their organisations.
