Home GCC Saudi Arabia Saudi Data and AI Authority, stc to develop digital technologies, AI solutions The organisations intend to localise digital solutions and exchange experiences and knowledge in the field of data management and governance by Gulf Business September 15, 2022 The stc Group and Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to implement many national initiatives to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) and digital solutions in Saudi Arabia. The MOU, signed during the Global AI Summit held in Riyadh, intends to localise digital solutions and exchange experiences and knowledge in the field of data management and governance. As part of the agreement, stc will support data quality globally within the best practices, along with assisting startups in adhering to data governance and implementing a personal data protection system. It will contribute to accelerating the rate of compliance with data regulations at the national level along with activating awareness messages to protect personal data. The memorandum will entail the provision of solutions and services on the stc’s sustainability platform to charities that are listed on the ‘Ehsan’ platform. It will also support NGO projects and programmes adopted by SDAIA. Furthermore, the partnership will aim to develop environmental services and products, and specialised volunteering projects, as well as provide assessments to evaluate the capabilities and competencies of trainees, employees and leaders. The MoU will also enable knowledge sharing and career development programmes through the stc Academy to accelerate the development of young people in the fields of data and artificial intelligence. Engineer Olayan Alwetaid, group CEO of stc said: “Our collaboration with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority confirms stc’s role in enabling the digital system for artificial intelligence, by the dissemination of research and development, and enhancing the digital capabilities through strategic partnerships to accelerate the transformation stages and transition to reliance on artificial intelligence, to support the digital economy in line with the kingdom’s Vision 2030.” In other news, SDAIA announced Global AI Summit that it has joined the World Bank’s Digital Development Partnership, which is a cooperation partnership between the public and private sectors to help developing countries benefit from digital innovations to solve some of the most challenging issues. In its capacity as a new member of this partnership, Saudi Arabia will contribute to supporting initiatives that aim at enhancing the development of data capabilities, speeding up the use of digital tools, and sharing its expertise and capabilities to realise sustainable growth and economic development.
