The drone was targeting civilians and civilian objects in the city, authorities said. The attack was condemned by the UAE and Bahrain, who affirmed their full solidarity with Saudi Arabia. In a statement, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said that the recurrent terror attacks by the Houthis “reflect their blatant disregard for the international community and all international laws and norms”. The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said it supports Saudi Arabia in all the measures it takes to protect the integrity of its territory and protect its citizens and expatriates. The attack was also condemned by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab Parliament. The Arab Parliament warned against the “continued escalation of Houthi attacks against innocent civilians, endangering their lives, considering that such repeated attacks constitute war crimes and a flagrant violation of international laws and norms”.
