Saudi reopens land borders with the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain

Saudi Arabia has reopened its land borders for commercial trucks coming from the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain, as Covid-19 precautionary measures ease.

The Saudi Customs issued a circular to all its land ports asking them to permit the movement of trucks coming from the GCC which have Saudi Arabia as their final destination, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

However, truck drivers will be subject to an assessment for any coronavirus symptoms at the entry border, the circular added.

Saudi Customs explained that the move comes in implementation of a royal order to ease Covid-19 precautionary measures.

The kingdom restricted entry at its land border crossings with the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain in early March as part of measures to stop the spread of the virus.

Late last month, it announced the reopening of the King Fahd Causeway which connects the country with Bahrain.

Saudi’s Ministry of Health reported 1,342 additional Covid-19 infections and 1,635 recoveries on Tuesday.

The infection count has risen to 281,435, while the number of recoveries has reached 243,688.

An additional 35 people also succumbed to the virus, raising the death toll to 2,984.
